FAQs:

The Questions and Answers below are designed to help explain the event structure, general venue layout, parking and food options, what you can access free, what you get with a Day Pass and what events are ticketed.

Please call the Genoa Town Office at (775) 782-8696 if your questions are not addressed here.

Q
What are all the events and how are they accessed?

A

  1. Ticketed events include Friday and Saturday evening concerts with world-class cowboy singers, cowboy poets and award-winning musicians in concert. Ticketed concerts have reserved seating, so purchase your tickets early. Check the Concert Tickets page or All Events Schedule page for costs and times. We’ll also have Other Events, like the Carson Valley Historic Ranch Tour from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Friday with lunch at the JT Basque Restaurant included for $125, and the Carson Valley Immigrant Trail Bus Tour on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $45. Both tours will require a pre-paid registration (see Other Events Tickets for details and various prices).

  2. Day Passes include a multitude of events on Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. including daytime concerts, cowboy singers and cowboy poetry performances. McAvoy Lane will portray Mark Twain and local history speakers will enlighten visitors about Genoa's past inhabitants. There will be workshops and demonstrations of Western pioneer life (such as Dutch oven cooking, leather tooling, cowboy gear, etc). And, the Native American Cultural and Historic Center will host day-long presentations, dance performances, handmade crafts and merchandise, and food.

  3. FREE events and facilities — requiring no ticket or day pass — include the Western Mercantile Row and art galleries, gift shop, outdoor demonstrations and, of course, the entire Town of Genoa — Nevada’s First Settlement — and all its businesses.

  4. Maps of the Festival area will direct visitors to all the scheduled events.

Q
Is the Town of Genoa closed for vehicle traffic as it is for Candy Dance?

A

No. The town is open for all types of vehicles throughout the event. You may enter the town, park and visit all of the businesses, all the western art galleries and western gear and/or collectibles in the Mercantile Row shops and enjoy some 'Open Mic' sessions of local and other talent in downtown Genoa — All free!!
Q
Where do we park?

A

Parking will be available on the side streets, on Genoa Lane, Jacks Valley Road and Foothill Road. The areas in front of Mormon Station State Park and the Volunteer Fire Department and certain areas in front of some of the businesses on Main Street will be used for event activities or blocked off for pedestrian traffic. Parking will also be available in the Genoa Cemetery parking lot.

Q
Will any streets be closed?

A

Yes. However, only Nixon Street and Mill Street between Main Street and Genoa Street and 1 block of Main Street between Nixon and 5th streets will be closed for the Mercantile Row shops. The main access roads — Genoa Lane, Jacks Valley Road and Foothill Road — are open throughout the entire event with one detour around Main Street (before 5th Street).

Q
Will the weather affect the events in the tents?

A

No. Every tent will be completely enclosed, heated and properly lighted. This has been successfully done during the last four events providing a comfortable “weatherproof” environment for the attendees.

Q
How do I purchase Tickets or Day Passes?

A

You may purchase tickets online through this website — CLICK HERE — or at the Town of Genoa Office in person or by phone at (775) 782-0326. Some ticketed events and tours have a limited capacity, so buy your tickets early!
Q
Will I be able to purchase tickets and Day Passes during the Festival?

A

Yes. But remember that the concerts (reserved seating on Friday and Saturday), the Carson Valley Historic Ranch Tour and the Carson Valley Emigrant Trail Bus Tour have limited capacities, so purchase your tickets early — don’t wait!
Q
What food will be available?

A

There will be a variety of food available. The Town of Genoa has several restaurants. In addition, the Volunteer Fire Department, Trimmer’s Outpost, the Native American Cultural and Historic Center and a few specialty food vendors will be offering food during the event.
Q
I’ve heard about the Heritage Club. What is that?

A

The Heritage Club provides financial support to the event. As a Heritage Club member, you and your guests will enjoy a true VIP experience.

Memberships are $2500 the first year with a significant reduction for renewals. The membership includes a private tent for members & guests with hosted food and bar services throughout the festival for 4 persons per day. It also includes VIP tickets for four persons to the concerts, as well as Day Passes and VIP Parking. Many of the performers visit the Heritage Club tent between performances, so you’ll likely have a chance to meet them and enjoy some conversation / entertainment.

Please refer to the Heritage Club page on this website for a complete listing of the exact benefits and contact information should you have any questions. A portion of your contribution is tax deductible.

Q
Is there a Ranch Tour this year?

A

Yes. The Carson Valley Historic Ranch will be on Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is $125 per person. Lunch at the JT Basque Restaurant will be included in the cost. Please purchase tickets early as this tour has a limited capacity.
Q
Is Disabled / Handicapped Accessibility Available?

A

Yes, but only in certain areas. The Town of Genoa is in a Historic District with no sidewalks and has several dirt roads. We will strive to accommodate your needs. It is recommended that you call the Town of Genoa office — (775) 782-8696 — before your visit to determine the best options for you and/or to make special arrangements.
